Parks and Recreation

Welcome to the Columbia City Parks and Recreation webpage. We are happy you have taken the time to find out more about what we have to offer our residents. Your Park Department is made up of several different locations throughout Columbia City. Morsches Park is easily our largest park, and most visited, during the course of the year. It is in Morsches Park where we have a majority of our baseball and softball games, eleven miles of mountain bike trails, a pavilion that we rent, the always popular splash pad, the Blue River Greenway, the skate park, football practices, the 4th of July fireworks, and several other facilities and events. It is easy to see why so many people come to visit Morsches Park during the year, and we hope that you too will make your visit soon!

Some of the other smaller parks in Columbia City include South Side Park, Patriotic Park, Mayor’s Park, and Kenneth Wright Park. Most of these parks include playgrounds for neighborhood kids to play on, as well as small basketball courts. Having these smaller parks throughout Columbia City has provided a great place to play for the kids that live close to these parks. They can easily find a place to play that is not very far from home.

DeVol Field is another popular location that is part of the Columbia City Parks Department. DeVol Field has a large baseball and softball field which hosts several games throughout the year. There are also six lighted tennis courts that are open for the public to use, as well as two sand volleyball courts.

We are excited to have our new playground opened up above DeVol Field. The new playground is called “Every Kids Dreamland”, and it is a fully accessible playground for kids with all kinds of disabilities. This is the first playground in our community that has been built to accommodate children with disabilities. Altogether there was a total of $160,000 raised to make this dream a reality.

Some of the other programs that the Columbia City Parks provides are the Father/Daughter Dance, the Mother/Son Halloween Party, Baseball Leagues, Softball Leagues, Junior Football Leagues, Co-Ed Softball Leagues, Swimming Lessons, Junior Golf Tournaments, the annual Pow Wow, and the Columbia City Fireworks Show. If you have any questions please do not hesitate to contact our office at 248-5180.

Thanks again for checking out the Columbia City Parks Department. We look forward to having you check out our different locations and getting involved in our programs!!!
